Abstract
The goal of a tympanoplasty is to eliminate disease and restore the anatomy and function. Endoscopic cartilage tymanoplasty is now an established technique of middle ear surgery, with results comparable to microscope assisted tympanoplasty. Tragal cartilage used for tympanoplasty is robust, easy to fashion, resists absorption and has low extrusion rates. Average hearing gain on comparing tragal cartilage and temporalis fascia are comparable.
